Mythology & origin
Andromeda, daughter of Cepheus and Cassiopeia, was chained to a sea rock as an offering to the monster Cetus and rescued by Perseus. The constellation hosts the Andromeda Galaxy (M31), the most distant object easily visible to the naked eye.
